The brief of the clients was to maximise the use of the existing old Wexford Farmers Co-Op Marts to relocate their business in a modern premises and maximise the remainder of the site.
Wexford Farmers Co-Op voiced their opinion in creating a landmark building to the junction at the Avenue Gorey together with creating a strong streetscape. This resulted in the careful design of a building rising from basement car park to penthouse level, 5 story high.
The design of the new building is a reinstated palette of modern forms used to interpret the simple, clean style to meet the client’s aspirations. However varied the new building is and at times it conflicts with the existing style, but it has resulted in a building which accurately reflects the values and aspiration of the council in relation to new modern street scape of Gorey town and it makes a very strong and positive statement of the Council’s focus on the future of Gorey town. It is a fusion of modern and traditional.
The new finishes give an improved setting and a more aesthetically pleasing appearance appropriate to a building situated off an important access road of Gorey town.
