The site enjoys magnificent South facing views over the river Barrow with the restrictions of Wexford County Council to be of a single storey maximum height 4.5meters.
Normal domestic requirements have been carefully integrated into the modern design, so as not to compromise the clarity of structure, function and form.
The house is located on the south facing side of the gently sloping hills overlooking the river Barrow.
The design of the house respects the orientation by keeping all ancillary uses to the north side, using a solid expression punctuated as required, with the living areas overlooking the parkland landscaping of the site in an elevated steel structure allowing optimum use of glazing.
The house has been carefully orientated on the site so all the main functional rooms have panoramic views over the river to south facing also making use of the solar gain and keeping the main entrance to the north elevation with a courtyard sheltered from the prevailing winds. A butterfly roof has been used to minimum height restrictions but the pitch allows for natural slate and solar panels to be clearly hidden.
